DigiBete: Transforming the Healthcare Sector with No Code

We sat down with Maddie Julian from DigiBete, to get the inside scoop of how DigiBete has implemented No Code insight into their app, saving the NHS an incredible £1m+!

What is DigiBete?

DigiBete is a multi-award-winning video platform and app and is a one-stop shop for young people’s diabetes management, with 300 resources in the app. It is a place to help young people, families, and communities to manage Type 1 Diabetes. Made by families living with diabetes for families with diabetes with all the resources being clinically approved. DigiBete is a community interest company with resources funded by NHS England, with all content clinically approved by the Diabetes Team at Leeds Children's Hospital. DigiBete extends NHS care from the diabetes clinic settings and enables everyone access to good quality care and advice to help manage diabetes at home or in the community, whenever needed.

What business issues were you seeing and how did the implementation of a no-code solution make things easier?

DigiBete has scaled very quickly from 4 to 195 clinics, delivering self-management support for those living with diabetes.  Following central funding from the NHS Diabetes Programme and a successful implementation into local diabetes centres across the country, showing usage and uptake stats across a centralised dashboard became really important.

Can you tell us a little about the implementation?

DigiBete has been working with Panintelligence over the last year to create a data dashboard with key engagement metrics to support our NHSE commissioning and to enable each diabetes centre to be able to see how their patients are using our App and digital self-management solution.  Support for building this dashboard has been crucial, particularly when talking to commissioners about our work.

What have been the outcomes of the no-code implementations?

Our no-code solution has enabled us to view all user data in one place allowing for informed business decision making. DigiBete has saved the NHS at least £1m annually in communications costs alone and thanks to our dashboard, we can see what is happening and how the platform is being used in real-time. The dashboard enables us to look at which resources and services are being used most and helps us establish a best practice model of ongoing use. It also helps us to plan and prioritise our services. DigiBete is supporting patients and their families by proving resources to support all aspects of diabetes care, at home or within the community. Whatever time of the day or night, DigiBete bridges the gap for patients between what’s available from their NHS diabetes clinics and the support and care they need to manage their diabetes at home and in the community.

What’s next for DigiBete?

DigiBete recently received funding from NHS X to create a Type 2 platform and app to bring parity to young people with or developing Type 2 diabetes. DigiBete has also been funded by the World Diabetes Federation to create a version of DigiBete for Pakistan, in partnership with a local organisation. Finally, DigiBete is developing deeper partnerships around diabetes and other long-term conditions and is looking to take our community-led yet clinically approved resource model into new areas.
