No Code Heroes – ‘Help a Neighbour Vote’
Democracy is the greatest asset we have. For hundreds of years we have been fighting for our right to elect fit and proper officials that will accurately represent our needs and do what’s right for the many, not the few. (Heck! It was only in 1918 that women could vote!)
Voter turnout shouldn’t be what stops the right person being in charge. It’s so important to get everyone voting to make sure the whole country is accurately represented, when countries are misrepresented, their community policies suffer and priorities are misplaced. In 2019, UK voter turnout was at 67.3%, this falls to 55.5% in the United States of America. In a country that is in dire need of reform thanks to the last *ahem* properly elected official, voter turnout must increase to lift one of the greatest countries on the planet back onto its perch.
Alas, good news in the end. America’s last election saw voter turnout reach potentially 72%! The highest turnout since the end of the 19th century! The democratic nominee, Senator Joseph Biden won by landslide! (Unless a recount is in the offing)
A National No Code Hero
Sheena Vasani, a writer and self-confessed creator from California, may have had a small part to play in this victory. She created ‘Help a Neighbor Vote’ using a no code platform, which allows Americans to sign up and register to post ballots on behalf of their disabled or elderly neighbours who are unable to get out vote themselves. It connects two people in the community, one of which can then post the ballot on behalf of the other.
If this project helps just one more person cast their vote, then democracy triumphs, if she gets national coverage then the right presidential candidate triumphs.
By using a no code solution, Sheena was able to bring her vision to life in weeks, rather than learning to code and developing from scratch. She has been able to improve her community and help those who are disabled or disenfranchised in speeds that would have been impossible when coding from scratch, even for an experienced coder.
If you have a no code solution that the world needs to hear about or want to know how to get involved in our next event, then get in touch. We can’t wait to hear from you.
